As far as skin treatments go skin needling is by far one of the more "hardcore" treatments. The results are amazing it can treat a number of issues like scar tissue, skin texture and elasticity pigmentation and reduce the fine lines. The wound healing action occurs deep in the dermal layers of the skin kick-starting your skin to function at its optimal level.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR TREATMENT The skin will look red and slightly puffy for a day or two. Occasionally, minor scratches will occur. These may last for a few days and can be covered with makeup. The deeper we penetrate, the redder and longer-lasting the scratches will be. In most cases, the skin will peel and flake off similar to a chemical peel usually lasting about 7 days. Skin needling stimulates your body to manufacture more of its own natural collagen and this process will continue for several weeks to months and even up to 1 year in some cases. Responses vary. Some people see a difference within a few weeks, whilst others take longer.

DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE SUN After you have undergone your micro-needling procedure, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen for 12 hours, due to the toxins that may be contained in the lotion. Post-procedure, the skin channels are completely open, and any toxins contained in sunscreen may be harmful to you.

DO NOT USE ANY “ACTIVE INGREDIENT” SKIN PRODUCTS Post-procedure, avoid any skincare product that has active ingredients. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will only irritate the skin further.

USE AN ANTIOXIDANT SERUM serums have properties that assist in healing the skin. Serums assist in soothing the skin and further reduce irritation.

AVOID SWEATING As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to either a reaction or infection.

DRINK WATER It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.

DO NOT PICK YOUR SKIN In most cases the skin will regenerate and the upper layers of skin will flake and peel off it is very important not to pick at the skin as this can result in scarring. most flaking and skin shedding will not last more than a week. Some clients book a "lift of treatment" in 3-5 days to help to remove most of the dead skin cells using an enzyme mask*.

The enzyme mask treatment I use contains pineapple stem extract and papaya extract to physically dissolve any skin cells on the surface that are dead (cells lacking a nucleolus that is dry and flat) leaving only living cells behind. It's also amazing after a chemical peel if the flaking annoys you.
